One run was the difference at Exhibition Stadium as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4 to 3. The game was won by Detroit with a run in the 9th inning. John Wockenfussreached on an error. Aurelio Rodriguez was next and he drew a walk. Two outs later Tito Fuentes stepped in and he stroked a one-base hit. Detroit managed 8 hits in their victory.
The victory went to John Hiller(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs. Steve Foucault was credited with his 1st save. Pete Vuckovich(0-1)ended up with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 and 1/3 innings of work.
