John Hiller pitched a 3 hit shutout as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 8 to 0 at Tiger Stadium.
Hiller(3-7) escaped virtually unscathed against the Toronto hitters. He wasstingy on the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings. Detroit had 12 hits for the night.
Jesse Jefferson(2-7) was the losing pitcher. He was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 9 hits and 6 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
