Jim Sundberg had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Doyle Alexander completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Texas Rangers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by the score of 8 to 2 at Exhibition Stadium.
Alexander(10-6) gave a fine effort for Texas. He went 9 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 walks. Texas totaled 12 hits on the night.
Jeff Byrd(0-3) was charged with the loss. He had trouble throwing strikes and issued 8 walks in 5 innings.
