1977 - July 6, TORONTO 6 @ BOSTON 7

In a dramatic ending, the Boston Red Sox staged a comeback win over the woeful Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 7 to 6. Boston scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 3 runs. Carlton Fisk led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. George Scott stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Bernie Carbo then drew a walk to load the bases. Butch Hobson followed and he was hit by a pitch. Jerry Johnson then unleashed a wild pitch. Denny Doyle kept the inning going and lined a single. Despite losing, Toronto out-hit Boston 14 to 8.

Mike Paxton(2-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Johnson(4-4) took the loss in relief. 'What a win!', Paxton said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
