In a good matchup it was the Detroit Tigers 7, the Toronto Blue Jays 5 at Tiger Stadium.
Detroit brought 6 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning when they had 6 base hits. The key at-bat was by Ron Leflore who brought a roar from the partisan Tiger Stadium fans when he hit a single which was good for two runs. Detroit finished with 11 hits in the victory.
Fernando Arroyo(2-5) allowed 5 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Jim Crawford recorded the save, his 2nd. The losing pitcher was Dave Lemanczyk(4-6). He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
