Bob Bailor had 3 base hits and Jerry Garvin shut down the Baltimore batters on just 2 hits at Memorial Stadium as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 6 to 0.
Garvin(8-3) was tremendous on the mound for Toronto. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.12 to 3.80. Toronto had 11 hits for the night.
Ross Grimsley(4-5) was given the loss. 'Garvin gave us exactly what we needed tonight,' Roy Hartsfield said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
