Jerry Garvin allowed 3 hits while blanking Texas at Exhibition Stadium as the Toronto Blue Jays embarrassed the Texas Rangers by the lopsided score of 10 to 0.
Garvin(10-6) dominated Texas hitters. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.24 to 4.00. Toronto kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Gaylord Perry(7-10) ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits and 7 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. 'Garvin was the man tonight,' Roy Hartsfield said. 'He had just about every pitch working.'
