In a tight game it was the Boston Red Sox 7, the Toronto Blue Jays 5 at Exhibition Stadium.
Despite a shaky outing, Fergie Jenkins(2-0) got the win. He gave up 5 runs, 15 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. Toronto made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Bill Campbell earned his 5th save. Bill Singer(1-2) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 runs in 5 innings and saw his ERA jump from 5.71 to 6.85.
