1977 - June 21, CLEVELAND 5 @ TORONTO 7

In a close game it was the Toronto Blue Jays 7, the Cleveland Indians 5 at Exhibition Stadium.
Cleveland lost it in the 8th inning when Toronto did all their damage as they showed no mercy on Cleveland blasting them for 6 hits and plating 7 runs. The big moment was provided by Ron Fairly who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he smashed a two-run homer (his 7th of the season). Toronto and Cleveland each finished the night with 10 hits.

Chuck Hartenstein(1-0) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jerry Johnson earned the save, his 8th. Don Hood(4-4) took the loss in relief.

'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Roy Hartsfield sighed. 'That win feels like a tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
