1977 - July 3, Game 1 - TEXAS 10 @ TORONTO 2

Dock Ellis racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Texas Rangers topped the league door-mat Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 10 to 2 at Exhibition Stadium.

Ellis(5-6) was in control of the game from the out set. He allowed only 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.97 to 4.71. Texas rapped out 15 hits for the afternoon.

Dave Lemanczyk(4-10) suffered the loss. He was touched for 12 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. Ellis didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
