One run was the difference at Municipal Stadium as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Cleveland Indians 4 to 3. Dave Lemanczyk(5-10) had a solid outing for Toronto. He went 8 and 1/3 innings surrendering 8 hits and 2 walks. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but Toronto was able to put down the rally.
Lemanczyk got help from Jerry Johnson who earned his 10th save. The losing pitcher was Dennis Eckersley(6-7). He pitched 9 innings allowing only 6 hits and 1 walk.
