Hector Torres lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI at Exhibition Stadium as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 8 to 5. Bill Singer(1-0) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He surrendered 4 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'. Chicago proved to be no trouble in the 9th.
Jerry Johnson was credited with his 1st save. Ken Brett(0-1) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around by Toronto, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
