Richie Zisk connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI at Exhibition Stadium where the Chicago White Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 14 to 9. Chicago won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning when they scored 5 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Alan Bannister who quieted the crowd when he delivered a base-hit which was good for two runs. Toronto was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
The win was credited to Silvio Martinez(1-0) who went 5 innings allowing 1 run. The loss was charged to Jerry Johnson(0-1) in relief.
