17,571 fans were treated to a fine game at Anaheim Stadium as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Toronto Blue Jays won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
California was unable to claim the lead after Toronto went ahead in the 7th inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. After two outs Al Woods banged out a single. Alan Ashby came next and he doubled. Doug Ault dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. California threatened in the 9th but Toronto was able to put down the rally.
Pete Vuckovich(1-6) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Vuckovich got help from Jerry Johnson who earned his 6th save. Paul Hartzell(3-2) was given the loss.
