Shortstop Bobby Grich slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Nolan Ryan white washed Toronto on 1 hit as the California Angels out scored the Toronto Blue Jays 6 to 0.
Grich enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He laced a one-base hit in the 1st inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 5th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 7th of the season) in the 7th inning. California finished with 9 hits in the victory.
For Ryan(9-5) it was his 2nd shutout this year. The loss was charged to Jesse Jefferson(2-6). He surrendered 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
