Third baseman Dave McKay left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 6 to 2 at Royals stadium.
Toronto wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. John Scott led off the inning for Toronto when he delivered a base-hit. Hector Torres was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Bob Bailor then lashed a single. Otto Velez came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Doug Ault stepped into the box and hit a sacrifice fly. Al Woods did his part to keep things going and drew a walk to load the bases. Alan Ashby stepped up to the plate and he banged out a single. Steve Bowling then drew a walk.
That was all the runs Dave Lemanczyk(2-1) needed. Kansas City was out-hit by Toronto, 14 hits to 8. Larry Gura(0-1) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 14 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
