Otto Velez homered and had 2 RBI as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the California Angels by the score of 4 to 2 at Exhibition Stadium.
In the 2nd inning Toronto scored 3 runs with the help of 5 hits. That early scoring held up.
Jerry Johnson was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 4th save.
Bill Singer(2-5) allowed 1 run in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Gary Ross(0-6) was the losing pitcher. The Toronto ball club's record now stands at 13-30. With the loss California now has a record of 18-25.
