Al Cowens jacked one out of the ball yard at Exhibition Stadium as the Kansas City Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7 to 6.
Kansas City had the winning rally in the 8th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Cowens led off and he singled. Cowens got a great jump and stole second easily. John Mayberry then drew a walk. Tom Bruno then let loose a wild pitch. Joe Zdeb was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Fred Patek continued the rally and lined a single. Kansas City continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. After another out, Frank White came up and he ripped a base-knock. Kansas City banged out 7 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Larry Gura(2-2) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Bruno(0-1) in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.
