Steve Staggs had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Toronto Blue Jays man-handled the hapless Detroit Tigers - the final score was 14 to 3.

Staggs provided much of the offense. He stroked a single in the 1st inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 3rd inning, delivered a base-hit plating a run in the 5th inning and stroked a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Detroit was out-hit by Toronto, 18 hits to 7.

The victory was credited to Jeff Byrd(2-3) who went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs. The losing pitcher was Milt Wilcox(1-2). He was knocked around by Toronto, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
