Bob Sykes allowed Ralph Houk to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game and Ron Leflore had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at Tiger Stadium where the Detroit Tigers beat the league door-mat Toronto Blue Jays 6 to 3.
Detroit tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning when they had 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Leflore who brought a roar from the partisan Tiger Stadium fans when he doubled clearing the bases. Detroit finished with 12 hits in the victory.
The winning pitcher was Sykes(4-4) who allowed 3 runs for the game. The losing pitcher was Jesse Jefferson(4-10). He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
