Graig Nettles hit a homerun and had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium where the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7 to 2. New York wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Thurman Munson got things going when he drew a walk. Reggie Jackson came next and he laced a base-hit. Nettles then rifled a three-run blast (his 3rd of the season). After another out, Roy White came up and he tripled. Carlos May stepped into the box and was hit by a pitch.
That early run support was enough for Don Gullett(2-1) and New York. New York ended up with 10 hits for the game while Toronto had 5.
Steve Hargan(0-2) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
