Graig Nettles smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the New York Yankees topped the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 11 to 3 at Exhibition Stadium.
Nettles provided much of the offense. He blasted a two-run home run in the 3rd inning and ripped a solo home run (his 19th of the season) in the 7th inning. Overall New York out-hit Toronto 12 to 8.
Ken Clay(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing 3 runs. Clay was helped out by Dick Tidrow who recorded his 2nd save. Dave Lemanczyk(4-9) ended up with the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 3 and 2/3 innings.
