Second baseman Tito Fuentes had 4 hits and Milt Wilcox tossed a complete game as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Toronto Blue Jays in 10 innings 6 to 3.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Detroit won the game in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Chuck Scrivener opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Ron Leflore next to the plate and he was hit by a pitch. Fuentes then delivered a single to load the bases. Rusty Staub stepped in and he drew a walk. Mickey Stanley stepped into the box and drew a walk. Jason Thompson kept the rally going and would hit into a force play. Detroit had a total of 11 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Wilcox(1-1) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs. Jerry Johnson(4-6) was tagged with the loss in relief.
