Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Chicago was victorious in the 10th inning. Jorge Orta began things off when he smashed a solo-shot out of the park. Richie Zisk came to the plate and doubled. Oscar Gamble then lined a base-hit. Jim Spencer followed and he ripped a base-knock. Chet Lemon followed, but he was set down on strikes. Jack Brohamer added his contribution to the rally and hit a sacrifice fly. Jim Essian followed and he reached on an error. Chicago had 11 hits for the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Lerrin Lagrow(7-5) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Pete Vuckovich(2-12) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 1 inning.
